El Español reports that the regional education department (Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades) has published a call for supplementary payments (ayudas complementarias) in the Generalitat's official gazette, the DOGV. They top up the grants of students going abroad to study under Erasmus+. The call covers the 2026-2027 academic year, and the Generalitat gives the total budget as €1m. The payments are for students at universities in the Valencian university system and at higher arts education centres (centros superiores de Enseñanzas Artísticas) in the region who spend part of their studies abroad through Erasmus+.

The monthly amount depends on the destination country, and the payment can cover no more than eight months of the stay:

  • €350 a month: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Sweden.
  • €300 a month: countries such as Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Malta and Portugal.
  • €250 a month: countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.

The money is awarded through a competitive process (concurrencia competitiva). Students do not apply themselves. The universities and higher centres taking part in Erasmus+ apply as managing bodies (entidades gestoras), and their deadline is 19 November. The aim is to help cover the cost of international mobility, so that a student's finances do not stand in the way of taking part in European education programmes. According to the report, support funded by the EU and by the institutions themselves needs topping up because mobility costs have risen.

The source does not say what the selection criteria are, how students should apply within their own university or centre, or when decisions and payments will be made. It also does not make clear whether the lists of countries at €300 and €250 are complete.
