Dénia will remain a venue for driving theory exams, even though the DGT (Spain's traffic authority) is introducing a new, fully computerised exam system. The new format replaces the previous way of running the tests.
To make this possible, the town hall has fitted out a computer room in municipal premises (local municipal) on calle Pedreguer. It is designed for 60 candidates and has 60 computers.
Total municipal investment came to €94,000. Of that, €63,000 went on computer equipment, €15,000 on furniture and €16,000 on electrical and refurbishment work to prepare the premises.
According to La Marina Plaza, the aim is that people from Dénia and the other Marina Alta municipalities can take the theory exam locally rather than travel to another city.
Last week DGT staff visited Dénia to check the new room and carry out technical tests before launch. The first exam in the room is planned for Friday 30 October.
The published reports do not say what time the first exam starts, how to book or pay the fees, when later sessions will be held, or whether anything changes for candidates themselves.
