Short but heavy showers fell across the Marina Alta district on 31 October, La Marina Plaza reports. They were most intense on the coast around Dénia and Jávea. The rain came about two weeks after DANA Adam (a DANA is a cut-off low bringing torrential rain), which caused serious damage in a number of towns in the area.

In Dénia, the Avamed station (Joan Chabàs) recorded 10.8 mm of rain in one hour and 13.4 mm over the day. The les Rotes area had 20.4 mm over the day, 8.8 mm of it in 60 minutes, the highest daily total in the town. Club Náutico recorded 11.4 mm over the day (5.0 mm in an hour), and Montgó/Corral de Calafat 7.2 mm.

In Jávea, the Balcón al Mar urbanisation logged the highest hourly figure in the whole district (comarca): 12.7 mm, with 14.7 mm over the day. Elsewhere in Jávea, the port (port de Xàbia) had 10.8 mm, 8.8 mm of it in one hour. Platja de l'Arenal had 9.8 mm (8.2 mm in an hour), and the Far del Cap de la Nau lighthouse area 11.4 mm (6.6 mm in an hour).

Further inland, daily totals were 18.2 mm in Orba (la Plana), with 9.4 mm of that in one hour, 12.2 mm in Pego (Ambra) and 12.0 mm in Sagra (la Costera de la Bolata).

AEMET has issued a yellow warning (low risk) for rain that could bring up to 20 litres per square metre in an hour. It covers the whole coast of Valencia province and the northern coast of Alicante province, and runs until 18:00 on Saturday 31 October. The warning puts the probability of rain at 40 to 70%. AEMET had already flagged possible heavy downpours on Friday 30 October.

AEMET's general forecast for the Valencian Community is for cloud and light or moderate showers, locally heavy in the north of Alicante province and the south of Valencia province. On the coast, expect a moderate north-easterly wind and a sea state of rizada (rippled) or marejadilla (slight), rising to marejada (moderate) in Alicante's coastal waters. Temperatures will drop slightly.

The source gives no information on flooded streets, injuries, damage or calls to the emergency services, and there is no statement from the town hall.
