A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery with violence (robo con violencia) after he allegedly took a woman's car in the city of Alicante and drove off along the AP-7, La Marina Plaza reports, citing the newspaper Todo Alicante. According to Todo Alicante, Guardia Civil intercepted the car at 08:45 near Ondara, close to the municipality of El Verger. The charge is provisional.
The man is said to have carried out two thefts in Alicante. He first took a motorbike on avenida Oscar Esplá and rode to avenida de Elx, where he fell off. A woman driving along saw him beside the bike, thought he needed help and pulled up. He ran at her car and began hitting it. When the owner opened the door, he pushed her out forcefully, got behind the wheel and drove away.
The chase covered almost 90 km through several comarcas (counties) of Alicante province. Three patrols from the Unidad de Seguridad y Respuesta (USR) of Alicante Local Police followed the car north on the AP-7. They contacted the Guardia Civil's Centro Operativo de Servicios (COS) to coordinate an interception. The owner helped to pinpoint the car's location and passed it to police while the patrols followed.
The report does not give the date of the incident, the woman's condition or what happens next to the man. It cites only Todo Alicante, with no official confirmation from Guardia Civil or Alicante Local Police.
