Santa Pola Town Hall is carrying out a new "asphalt operation" (operación asfalto), resurfacing roads in the historic town centre (casco urbano) and in Gran Alacant. According to the town hall's headline figure, its investment exceeds €600,000, and the works cover a total area of 26,000 m².

The first phase, in the town centre, is complete. Its budget was €454,142. New asphalt has been laid on the following streets: Bailén, Bahía, Perú, Bolivia, Uruguay, Santo Domingo, Filipinas, Cruz, Santa Isabel, Juan Sebastián Elcano, Santiago Bernabeu, Caridad, Espoz y Mina, Francisco Conejero and Albacete.

The first phase also included the roundabout at Av. Jesús Astondoa / Av. Pérez Ojeda, the roundabout where calle Málaga meets calle Sevilla, the Esteban González barco area and the junction of calle Caridad with calle Almirante Antequera. Work was also carried out on sections of Ronda Norte and on the roundabout between calle Levante and the carretera de Elche.

The second phase is entirely in Gran Alacant. It involves resurfacing (reasfaltado) avenida del Mediterráneo and calle Monte de Santa Pola. Its budget is €168,588, although the town hall's headline and subheading give €168,000. The work was still continuing on 26 October.

The town hall has not said when the second phase started or when it will finish, nor what traffic restrictions apply while the work is under way.
