According to Alicante Plaza, Elche CF host Valencia CF at the Martínez Valero stadium on Sunday 1 November in matchday 11 of LaLiga EA Sports. The paper calls it a regional derby. It does not give a kick-off time.
Elche are unbeaten in four games and have kept three clean sheets in a row: 0-0 draws with Celta de Vigo and Villarreal CF, then a 3-0 win away at Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas. They had not gone three matches without conceding since the start of the 2020/21 season, under Jorge Almirón. Elche have 9 points away from home, one more than in the whole of last season, but they have not yet won at home this season.
At his press conference on Friday, coach Martín Anselmi said he is counting on a first home win against Valencia. He dismissed the idea that the lack of home wins is making his players anxious, saying the team is focused on the present. He called Valencia dangerous: they press intensely and play direct football when given space, so Elche must stay focused for the whole match, stoppage time included. Valencia are now coached by Javier Aguirre, whom Anselmi knows from working in Mexico. They are in a difficult position in the table and have not won since he took over.
